Lori Gonko has worked in community colleges since 2000. Her career began in what she calls an “unexpected” manner when she was a student at Macomb Community College in need of a summer job. A part-time clerical job turned into more than a decade of various positions and experiences at MCC, including supervisory positions and Manager of Career and Technical Education. She currently serves as the Interim President of Henry Ford College responsible for leadership management, development, and coordination of all departments, divisions, and functions of the College, both internal and external. In collaboration with other leaders, she establishes and communicates the vision and strategic direction of the College. Other areas of responsibility include planning, budget, academics, communications, personnel, student services, facilities, fundraising, policy, reporting, and community and government relations.
Dr. Gonko has both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English from Oakland University, and she is a graduate of the second cohort of the Ferris DCCL program. Her dissertation focused on the role of community college support staff in student success initiatives and support staff professional development.
