Information Security

Information security. We hear this all the time, but what is it?

Information security, infosec, and cybersecurity are often used interchangeably. Essentially these terms refer to the processes and tools used to protect sensitive information and information systems from unauthorized activity.  The three key principles of information security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Confidentiality security measures prevent disclosure of sensitive information to unauthorized parties. Integrity security measures ensure that data is accurate and reliable. Availability security measures ensure that a system or data is available when it is needed.

The Information Security team is here to help you learn more about the many ways you can protect your technology, your information, and your privacy. Check out our pages for some useful tips and resources on how to keep yourself and the University safe. Remember, information security is everyone's responsibility!
