Mobile Communication Device Information

The guides below will provide instruction on how to request a new mobile device, upgrade an existing mobile device, porting your personal number in/out, and terminating your mobile device service. For questions related to mobile devices, please email [email protected]

 

    1. Go to the IT Self-Service Portal and log in with your Ferris email address and password (https://cherwell.ferris.edu/cherwellportal/its)
    2. Click on I Have a Request link to go to the Service Catalog
    3. Click on I am an Employee
    4. Click on Phone, Cable, and Mobile Services
    5. Click on Mobile Devices
    6. Select Setup a New Phone Account
    7. Fill out a Detailed Description of what you are requesting and then fill out these necessary fields below:
      1. Mobile Communication Device Options
      2. Employee (search for yourself by typing in your Ferris username)
      3. Approver (search for your department supervisor by typing in their username or name)
      4. Plan Selection (check the box on the options you wish to be included on your phone)
      5. Business Justification (select one or both options)
    8. Click the Click To Agree button to agree to the terms of the Mobile Communication Device agreement.
    9. Click the Submit button
    10. You will receive an email from the system letting you know that your request has been submitted. An email will go to the Approver you selected to approve the request to add a new line of service to the Ferris account.
    11. Once approved, you will receive another email with the details on how to proceed with ordering a phone

    2. Click on I Want to Buy an Item to go to the Product Catalog
    3. Click on Mobile Devices
    4. Click on the Manufacturer of the mobile device you wish to request
    5. Click on the Model of the mobile device you wish to request
    6. Click the Add Item button and answer the prompts
    7. Select an Approver (search for your department/budget approver by typing in their username or name)
    8. Click the Submit Purchase button to submit the Purchase Request
    9. After submitting the Purchase Request, the request will be reviewed by an IT Solution Center staff member for completion and accuracy. The request will then be sent to the selected Approver for approval. Once approved, the selected mobile device will be ordered. When the mobile device arrives, it will be inventoried, and an email will be sent to you to notify you of delivery and to let us know when you are available to setup the new device. An Outlook calendar invite will be sent for the scheduled time.
    1. Contact the IT Solution Center Walk-up Service Desk by emailing [email protected] to check if your mobile device is eligible for a device upgrade. When emailing, include your phone number and device model.
    2. If eligible, go to the IT Self-Service Portal and log in with your Ferris email address and password (https://cherwell.ferris.edu/cherwellportal/its)
    3. Click on I Want to Buy an Item to go to the Product Catalog
    4. Click on Mobile Devices
    5. Click on the Manufacturer of the mobile device you wish to request
    6. Click on the Model of the mobile device you wish to request
    7. Click the Add Item button and answer the prompts
    8. Select an Approver (search for your department/budget approver by typing in their username or name)
    9. Click the Submit Purchase button to submit the Purchase Request
    10. After submitting the Purchase Request, the request will be reviewed by an IT Solution Center staff member for completion and accuracy.     1. To Port your personal cell phone number into Ferris’ Government account, you will need to fill out an Assumption of Liability form which can be found here.
    2. Fill out the section(s) that are titled with Relinquishing Customer
    3. Sign and Date the form
    4. Email the signed form to [email protected] and the IT Solution Center will fill out the remainder of the form and submit for processing
    5. A typical port request can take up to 5 business days to complete
    6. A mobile device will then need to be ordered to port the number to or if the device has already been ordered, the number port will replace the new number assigned to the new mobile device
    1. To port your personal number out of Ferris’s Government account, you will need to fill out an Assumption of Liability form which can be found here.
    2. Fill out the section(s) that are titled with Assuming Customer
    3. Sign and Date the form
    4. Email the signed form to [email protected] and the IT Solution Center will fill out the remainder of the form and submit for processing

    6. A personal account will need to be established before the number can be ported out of Ferris’ government account. You will need to work with your service provider on establishing a new account or use and existing account.

    6. Click on Suspend or Turn Off Service
    7. Fill out a Detailed Description of what you are requesting and then fill out these necessary fields below:
      1. Mobile Communication Device Options
      2. Employee (search for yourself by typing in your Ferris username)
      3. Approver (search for your department supervisor by typing in their username or name)
      4. Phone Number
    8. Click the Submit button
    9. You will receive an email from the system letting you know that your request has been submitted. An email will go to the Approver you selected to approve the request to terminate service on your mobile device
    10. If you are separating from the university and wish to port your number to a personal account, please refer to the section about porting your number out of Ferris’ government account. Otherwise, your mobile device service will terminate with your separation ticket. If you wish to buy your Ferris provided mobile device, please click here and follow the directions to submit a request.

     

    1. If you are travelling outside of the United States, you will need to have international service added to your Ferris provided mobile device.
    2. Go to the IT Self-Service Portal and log in with your Ferris email address and password (https://cherwell.ferris.edu/cherwellportal/its)
    3. Click on I Have a Request link to go to the Service Catalog
    4. Click on I am an Employee
    5. Click on Phone, Cable, and Mobile Services
    6. Click on Mobile Devices
    7. Click on Add International Feature
    8. Fill out a Detailed Description of what you are requesting, including your travel dates, and then fill out these necessary fields below:
      1. Mobile Communication Device Options
      2. Employee (search for yourself by typing in your Ferris username)
      3. Approver (search for your department supervisor by typing in their username or name)
      4. Phone Number
    9. Click the Submit button
    10. You will receive an email from the system letting you know that your request has been submitted. An email will go to the Approver you selected to approve the request international service be added to your mobile device during your travel dates
    11. When you return, the international service will be removed from the device and set back to the normal plan
