Sergeant Matt Decker

Sergeant Decker is a Shift Supervisor responsible for patrolling the campus during the evening shift. His duties include patrolling campus, responding to emergency calls, crime prevention, assigning shift personnel to their duties and maintaining records. He has the responsibility for the immediate supervision, instruction, and coordination of the activities of the officers and student employees assigned to his shift.

Sergeant Decker is a 2008 graduate of West Shore Community College police academy. Prior to being employed by Public Safety, Sergeant Decker was an officer for the village of Barryton, which is located on the northeast side of Mecosta County, and with the Reed City Police in Osceola County where he served as the school liaison officer for the Reed City Area Public Schools.

Additionally, Sergeant Decker served as a firefighter with Reed City from 2002 - 2017 and is certified in Fire Fighter I & II, and hazmat awareness. Sergeant Decker enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.
