Annual Security & Fire Reports

Ferris State University (FSU) is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all members of our community. Campus safety is a shared responsibility, and we recognize its importance in higher education.

The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act—originally adopted in 1990 as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act and later amended by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act—requires colleges and universities to publish an Annual Security Report (ASR). This federal law ensures that students, employees, parents, and visitors are informed about campus safety policies and available resources.

Each year, FSU prepares this report in compliance with the Clery Act. The ASR includes:

  • Three years of statistics for specific crimes reported on the main campus in Big Rapids, as well as other FSU locations, including Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, the College of Pharmacy, and additional satellite learning sites.

  • Statistics for crimes reported on public property immediately adjacent to or accessible from these campuses.

  • Information about campus safety policies, crime prevention programs, emergency response, and resources available to the University community.

The full Annual Security Report is available online and may also be obtained in print from the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety.
