The Department of Public Safety hires student employees each year to assist in the functions and services it provides to the campus community. In addition to our full-time staff, the department hires nearly 20-30 students who assist with parking enforcement, traffic control and after-hours dispatch.
Service Officers assist with parking enforcement and traffic control. These student workers also assist during special events, including: sporting games, campus move-in weekend, and concerts.
Student dispatchers work during the evening and nighttime hours, answering non-emergency and emergency calls. Student dispatchers are also responsible for handling after-hours maintenance calls, the campus alarm systems, guest permit issuance, and ensuring student workers and patrol officers are secure.
