Biography

I began my career in higher education teaching English-as-a-Second Language part-time then full-time (in 1999) at a community college in Illinois. After becoming Program Director of this ESL program, I found a passion for faculty and curriculum development. Eventually, I served as Department Chair at that college while also pursuing a Doctorate in Management in Community College Policy and Administration.

In 2017, I became Dean of Transfer and Pre-Professional Programs at a community college in West Virginia, and held that position until 2023, when I became Director of the Doctorate in Community College Leadership Program here at Ferris State University. Throughout my career in higher education, I have focused increasingly on training and developing others to improve student and institutional outcomes. Whether that has been through faculty development, helping others identify strengths and weaknesses, curriculum development, training faculty in assessment of student learning outcomes, etc., I’ve been able to impact more students’ success by helping others.
