Special Processes Lab: Manual and Semi-Automatic Welding Processes

Designed for 200/400 level course work for the instruction of GMAW metal transfer mode and GTAW waveform development and application. The lab space has the following equipment features:

  • 980 square feet of instructional space
  • Lab area contains (10) student booth workstations
    • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) / Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) – AC/DC, Advanced AC waveform technology
    • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) / Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) – Advanced DC waveform technology with pulsation
  • Electrode consumable oven; dual-wheel pedestal wire brush
  • Full-lab ventilation system consists of snorkel-arm devices at each welding station; portable ventilation systems
