Apply as an International Student

Complete the online application and select the International – All Levels option. At the end of the application, you will be able to upload required documents. Any required documents you have not uploaded can be emailed to [email protected].

Official secondary education transcripts and any country-specific finishing examinations can be sent directly to the Office of International Admissions. Students may apply and be admitted before finishing secondary education, but completed transcripts must be submitted as soon as they are available and before starting at Ferris State University.

Students whose primary language is not English must demonstrate establish English language proficiency to enter an academic program. Students may request that an official score report be delivered directly from the testing organization to Ferris State University. Review Ferris State's list of English proficiency policies. Test scores: English language test scores. SAT is not required but can be used as a substitute for English scores.

Applicants must submit a financial statement showing sufficient funds in the amount of $34,300 to cover educational and living expenses. Proof of financial support is required for immigration purposes in order to receive your student visa.

Applicants must provide a copy of their passport biographical page as part of their application materials.

The Office of International Education will review transcripts and find the equivalent US Grade point Average (GPA), used for admission and scholarship evaluation. After submitting all required documents, international applicants will receive an admission and scholarship decision within 2 weeks. Once a student has received their admission letter, they can pay the $100 International Orientation fee to receive their I-20 document.

Applicants to the BS in Artificial Intelligence and the BS in Information Security and Intelligence must also submit an essay. Essay details can be found on the program website. Those essays can be emailed to [email protected]

Applicants to College of Engineering Technology programs must demonstrate math proficiency before admission. Students without SAT scores or a determinable high school level will be asked to take a free online math placement test before admission.

Canadian students:

Canadian students receive in-state tuition rates and scholarships. The financial statement amount required for Canadian students is $26,188.

Transfer students:

Transfer students will submit their university transcripts in place of secondary school transcripts.

Students transferring from a school within the U.S. need to order their transcripts sent directly to Ferris from their current school. They need to send a copy of their current I-20 and visa.

Students transferring from a school outside of the U.S. must send course descriptions (catalog listings or syllabi) for the classes they wish to earn transfer credit.

Estimated tuition for a first-year international student is $23,884 per year, based on 14 credit hours per semester ($853 per credit hour). The cost of housing, a meal plan, and health insurance is approximately $12,280 per year. 

Merit-based scholarships between $3,000 and $10,000 are awarded at the time of admission. Students can also earn between $10,000 and $15,000 per year through an on-campus student job.

Applicants to the MS in Data Science and Analytics must show proof of familiarity with inferential statistics and some programming language. Transcripts or course descriptions may show that. A student may be asked to take remedial courses if the student does not have an adequate foundation to pursue this degree.

Canadian students:
