Welding Technology (WELT) AAS Degree - Program Admission Requirements

The following specific admission requirements for Ferris State University Welding Technology AAS degree program are in effect for the fall 2021 academic semester.

New Students (FTIAC – First Time In Any College)

  • Meet university admission standards
  • Meet CET admission standards - ACT Composite 18 or SAT 16 Total 990
  • Math 115 Placement - ACT Math 19 or SAT 16 MATH 500
  • English 150 Placement - ACT ENGL 14 or SAT 16 WRIT 450
  • NOTE: An applicant may apply to Ferris State University and the WELT AAS degree program upon the completion of their junior year in high school when all criteria listed above is fulfilled.

Transfer Students (without a completed WELT AAS degree from another institution)

  • Meet university admission standards
  • 3.0 College GPA
  • 19 Math ACT, 500 Math SAT 16 or B or higher in MATH 110 or equivalent
  • 14 English ACT, 450 English SAT 16 or B or higher in ENGL 074 or equivalent

Upon referral of a completed student application from the Ferris State Admissions Office, the Welding Program Coordinator evaluates applicants to the WELT AAS degree program. As enrollment capacity dictates, successful applicants are placed on the program “Wait List” or accepted into the WELT AAS degree program for the requested academic semester.  Applicants are notified of their current standing by the FSU Admissions Office.
