Over the summer, IT Services has been reviewing and working on a solution to improve
the wireless connectivity and network registration of devices students bring to campus
when moving into and living in an on campus residence. As part of this work, a new
wireless network was made available in all Main Campus residence halls and apartments
that will allow students to connect their devices to the wireless network without
the need to register the device using their computing ID and password. This new wireless
name is called FSUatHome and replaces the FSUStudent and FSUStudent2 networks that
were previously available.
When students arrive on campus, they can simply connect to the FSUatHome wireless
network (password is FSUatHome) and they will automatically be connected to the internet.
No need to download an application or sign in with credentials. It is just like connecting
to a wireless network at home or local restaurant/coffee shop. With FSUatHome students
can connect their phones, computers, tablets, game consoles, streaming devices, and
TVs in just a few short minutes.
*Note: If students want to use their cell phone, computer, or tablet on the wireless
network outside of the residence halls and apartments, they will need to connect to
the FerrisWiFi network and register their device as this network requires authentication
with a computing ID and password. FerrisWiFi is also available in the residence halls
and apartments.
