These instructions are for Windows 7, but they remain similar in Windows 10.
- To quickly lock your workstation, hold down the “Windows key” (located next to the Alt key) and press the “L” key.
- To unlock the workstation, move the mouse or press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the logon screen.
- Type your password into the logon screen to re-enter your workstation.
- To lock your workstation manually, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, which will bring up the Windows 7 Professional screen.
- Click “Lock this computer.”
- To unlock your workstation, move the mouse or enter Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the logon screen.
- Type your password into the logon screen to re-enter your workstation.
- Right-click on your desktop and then click “Personalize.”
- Select the “Screen Saver” option in the bottom right corner of the window.
- Select one of the screen saver options located in the Screen Saver drop-down menu. Do
not select “None.”
- Set the wait time for less than 15 minutes.
- Check the “On resume, display logon screen” box.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- To unlock your workstation, move the mouse to exit the screen saver.
- You may need to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the logon screen.
