How to map a shared network drive

Select your operating system below and follow the instructions to map your shared network drives.

    1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start menu, or press the Windows logo key + E.
    2. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.
    3. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Your drive letter will typically be J, but if J is already in use any other available letter will work as well)
    4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box. (Type in the file path. It will look similar to this file path \\fsufs2\RSS\HONORS\Department. Your supervisor or another employee in your department may know what your file path is.)
    5. Select Finish.

    1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button and then clicking Computer.
    2. Click Map Network Drive.

    1. From the Mac OS X Finder, hit Command+K to bring up the ‘Connect to Server’ window
    2. Enter the path to the network drive you want to map, ie: smb://networkcomputer/networkshare and click ‘Connect’
    3. Enter your login/password and click “OK” to mount the network drive
    4. The drive will now appear on your desktop and in the Finder window sidebar
