Hairspray (Fall 2010)

It’s 1962, and teen Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one desire—to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. But can a plus-size trendsetter vanquish the program’s reigning princess, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television show without denting her ’do? Only in Hairspray.

Hairspray is based on the 1988 New Line Cinema film created by John Waters. The musical version of Hairspray won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, during a six-year Broadway run. More recently, a 2007 movie version of the musical starred big-name actors including John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Queen Latifah and Zac Efron.
