Yes! Scholarship Universe is fully mobile-friendly, allowing you to access the platform conveniently from your phone or tablet. You can answer questions, browse opportunities, and match with scholarships, making the process of earning scholarships more accessible and convenient than ever before. Whether you're on the go or relaxing at home, Scholarship Universe is designed to provide a seamless experience across various devices.
An external scholarship is a non-Ferris scholarship offered by organizations, foundations, or businesses outside of the university. These opportunities are not directly funded by Ferris State University but are excellent avenues for additional financial support.
Applying for external scholarships is easy! Log in to your Scholarship Universe portal and begin answering matching questions as prompted when you login in. The more questions you answer, the more the system can match you to the best scholarships for you to apply for. Browse available opportunities, select the ones that match your interests and qualifications, and follow the application instructions provided by each scholarship.
Applying for external scholarships is a fantastic way to explore the new Scholarship Universe system while increasing your chances of securing additional financial aid. These scholarships, not limited to Ferris State, offer diverse opportunities, and can complement other forms of financial assistance.
Ferris State scholarships are specifically created for our students by donors who have invested in supporting your education. External scholarships come from outside organizations and have varied eligibility criteria and application processes.
Scholarship Universe will be open from December 15, 2024 through February 28, 2025 to apply for scholarships for 2025-26.
Stay informed through campus communications! Ferris 360 emails and social media accounts will be regularly updated with announcements and important dates related to Ferris State scholarships. Always check your Ferris email for the latest information and notifications about scholarship opportunities.
As a "matching" system, Scholarship Universe is working behind the scenes to match you with scholarship opportunities that you are eligible for, based on information we already know about you, such as your cumulative GPA, your program, your college, etc. Because no additional information is needed from you, you won't see anything for the majority of these scholarship opportunities. The only donor scholarships you will see are those that require additional information from you - such as questions about your leadership experience, participation in RSOs or professional organizations, or those that require essays or letters of reference. You are encouraged to answer as many "matching questions" as you can, to ensure that you are being considered for as many scholarship opportunities as possible.
Once the application period for 2025-26 scholarships closes on February 28, 2025, scholarship selection committees across campus will begin their work. Most scholarship notifications will take place from early May through early July.
Every student that is awarded a scholarship through Scholarship Universe will receive an email notification advising them of the name of the scholarship and the amount of the award. You will be required to acknowledge acceptance of the scholarship in Scholarship Universe and you will be required to submit a thank you or statement of gratitude for the award. Shortly after you have completed these two steps, the scholarship will be added to your financial aid award for 2025-26.
If you experience a bad external scholarship, please click on the "Feedback" icon on the left-hand menu in ScholarshipUniverse. You will be prompted to select a reason for your feedback, select "bad scholarship alert". Type in the name of the scholarship that had the bad link.
