Mike Troupe is a key person in the operation of FSU facilities and much of his work is done unseen. He always takes his work seriously and even follows up on his own time. Lately he has come back to work on off hours and week ends to assist the HVAC/R shop with control problems without compensation or even any one knowing he sacrificed his personal time. Mike is so helpful it is hard not to take him for granted. His responsibilities are broad and complex but Mike seldom voices any objection. Mike is a highly loyal and effective member of the Physical Plant. My hat's off to him almost every day.
Ed Green and Bill Conrad took a bad situation to task and solved what several others, and I, told them couldn't be done. They trusted their instincts and used their combined knowledge to work out a difficult operational problem at Swan. If they had not come forward and accepted the challenge it would not have been solved. It took skill and going beyond the call of their responsibility, at some risk of being wrong, to save the day. Having strong employees who care enough to question and propose solutions makes a difference to me.
Paul Heidemann continues to go above and beyond the call of duty to maintain Media Production's work order database. Because of his commitment to ensure its smooth operation, we are able to provide timely invoices and track data for assessment/efficiency reports. Thank you, Paul, for your dedication to Ferris.
I would like to nominate Jodi Shepherd to receive a Pat-on-the-Back award. I think she goes beyond what is required and offers an excellent and customized presentation to students to help them learn how to use library databases for specific classes. I found her presentations to my classes to be particularly pertinent and helpful.
Scott Claerhout has spent several hours troubleshooting my computer for remote access. He's even called me from home on two separate occasions. This goes above and beyond customer service.
I would like to nominate Lynn Lewis for a Pat-On-The-Back award. Lynn worked hard to find a buyer for the Ferris mainframe that was recently decommissioned. He spent time digging up documentation on the original system specifications and shopped around to find a company that would not just take the old equipment, but paid money for it, too! It is good to know that the mainframe will be utilized elsewhere and not just sitting in a landfill. Thanks, Lynn!
Rick Fountain, a recently hired FSU electrician, has solved some of the lighting problems that have plagued FLITE for years. Thank you, Rick, for providing the students with dimming lights in the distance learning room and for eliminating flickering lights in the instructional studios.
I would like to nominate Jason Daday for the Pat-On-The-Back Award. He is ALWAYS willing to go the extra mile when needed. He has a great attitude and is very dedicated. I really enjoy working with Jason and want to thank him for all that he does.
