Open Educational Resources in General Education

Open Educational Resources (OER) are free course materials that can be modified to meet individual class needs.  Although OER are often described as “free textbooks,” they are much more than free. OER materials are free and also give permission to:

  • copy
  • mix
  • share
  • keep
  • edit
  • use

Using OER promotes equity and accessibility in the classroom.  The resources listed below are peer-reviewed, some in their second edition.
