Prior to actually going out and working in the internship, there are several requirements:
Internship sites are chosen on a competitive basis. Companies choose interns based on the results of résumé review and interviews. If you have a specific company you desire to do your internship with, it is up to you to contact the company. If the company expresses an interest, you must notify the faculty internship coordinator and they will contact the company to see if it satisfies internship objectives.
This process is identical to what students will experience upon seeking permanent employment prior to graduation. It is a competitive process and it benefits the student to be well-prepared.
Once a student accepts an offer of employment and signs the internship agreement, they will be obligated to work that internship assignment. Students will not be permitted to “flip” internships unless agreed upon by the employer due to business conditions.
