This nonrefundable fee was approved as part of the tuition and student fees process.
The $98 University Services fee provides funding for most campus entertainment, including,
but not limited to, Registered Student Organization events and travel, concerts, and
Five-Star events such as speakers, comedians and magicians. These activities contribute
to enhancing the Ferris State University student experience while minimizing expense.
Students registered for in-person classes on the Big Rapids campus, except for dual
and concurrent enrolled students, are billed for the University Services fee.
Below is a summary of the ways this fee supports an enriched student experience. Included
are links to each area with additional information available:
- Student Government, which sponsors the BIG Event (community service program), Pancakes with the President,
the Leadership Dinner, emergency preparation meetings for students, and supports
RSOs with funding.
- Club sports
- Racquet & Fitness Center provides court time (tennis/racquetball/wallyball), fitness room and facility access
through the fee. It further allows for member rates on tennis and pickleball classes.
Amenities at the facility include indoor/outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, racquetball
court/wallyball, weight room, exercise room, fitness room, sauna (men’s/women’s),
programs (tennis and pickleball), as well as free parking. For more information, visit
the Racquet & Fitness Center's webpage. A valid student ID is required to participate
in any student group activities.
- Birkam Health Center is a healthcare facility on the Big Rapids campus where students can see a nurse
practitioner for ailments. The Center also has availability for virtual appointments.
Birkam Health Center also offers several educational outreach and programming opportunities
throughout the year, including GLOW Yoga, sexual health education, first aid and illness
prevention/education. They also offer free over-the-counter medications, first aid
supplies, menstrual supplies, wellness items, illness to-go bags, and STI screenings.
The Birkam Health Center keeps cash rates extremely low for students who do not have
health insurance or don't want to use their insurance for services rendered.
