Voter Registration Policy

It is the policy of Ferris State University to provide voter registration information to all students.

At the direction of the Political Engagement Steering Committee, a targeted email containing voter registration information and a link to voter registration forms will be sent to all enrolled students during the fall semester of each academic year.

Here is the language of the current message sent to students in the fall semester:

Your Vote is Your Voice. Be Heard.

A central value of Ferris State University is to prepare our students to be engaged citizens. Voting is a right, a privilege and a responsibility. This information below will guide you through the voter registration process so that you may exercise your right to vote.

You must register at the City Clerk office of the town you plan to vote in at least 30 days before the election. (Preferably before you leave for campus).

You are required to register in person (not by mail) if you plan to vote absentee on Election Day.  (Absentee voting means that you are voting in Big Rapids instead of traveling home to vote.)

Your City Clerk office can assist you with registration and absentee voting instructions.

The City Clerk’s office in Big Rapids can also assist you with answers to your voting questions.

226 N Michigan Ave, Big Rapids, MI 49307

There will also be voter registration and information sessions offered on campus, so look for these opportunities.
