How to Accept Financial Aid Awards

Reviewing Your Financial Aid

Accepting financial aid can feel overwhelming. What if you change your mind, or what if you get a scholarship or some other financial aid and don't need a loan anymore?

Don't worry, you're protected by federal financial aid regulations. If you accept loans now and later decide not to attend Ferris State or Kendall College of Art & Design, or if your financial situation changes, you can cancel your student loans by emailing us with a request.

Option 1: Accept Everything

  • Select "Accept Full Amount All Awards" at the bottom of the page.
  • Make sure to select "Yes" to the two authorizations* (see below for more details).

Option 2: Accept Some or Decline

  • You can accept a partial amount or decline individual loan offers.
  • If your award is for Fall & Spring, the loan will be split 50/50.
    • Example: If you need $500 for Fall, accept $1,000 total.
  • Select "Yes" to the two authorizations*.
  • Click "Submit Decision."
    • If you click “Accept Full Amount All Awards,” it will override any manual changes and accept everything.

After You Accept: Check for Additional Steps

  • Look at the bottom of the page for any unsatisfied Disbursement Requirements.
  • If you accepted loans, you'll see two online steps you must complete to finalize them.

*About the Two Authorizations

We encourage all students to select "Yes" to both as they give flexibility and peace of mind:

  1. Covers additional charges (like Health Center charges or parking)
  2. Covers past-due balances (let's spring aid cover a fall charge if needed)
