Faculty Research Committee Mission Statement

Mission

The Faculty Research Committee will evaluate and recommend approval or non-approval of research across disciplines (scientific, creative, etc.) based on established criteria including the contribution of knowledge and student involvement. The committee will also review all approved projects once completed. In addition, this committee will develop procedures to assist faculty with the development of their research proposals.

Ten voting members

• One faculty representative from each of the seven colleges and the Counselor/Librarian unit
• One at-large member chosen from the Professional Group whenever possible
• One Senate representative
• One ex-officio member
• A representative from the Office of Academic Affairs

Note
When appropriate, experts within the applicant's discipline will be requested to aid the committee as consultants or reviewers of specific proposals.

Reporting Procedure

The chair shall send an annual report and all recommendations to the Vice-President of the Academic Senate. In addition to the above, the chair shall send all recommendations for approval of research proposals to the Provost.
