Arts and Lectures Committee

Mission statement

The function of this Academic Senate Committee is to provide the university and the local community with a series of intellectually stimulating and culturally enriching programs. The committee’s role is to provide direction/leadership, i.e.: set a theme, set number of types of groups, list preferred groups, etc., for the selection of artists and experts representing various fields of knowledge and the arts. The committee will also facilitate the 
infusion of these arts and lectures activities into the classroom setting. The scheduling and arranging of events is the responsibility of the logistics committee.

Committee Membership

The committee shall consist of 16 voting members to include:

  • One representative from each of the eight (8) colleges
  • One representative from the counselor/librarian group
  • Faculty representative from the music center
  • Williams Auditorium Manager
  • Two (2) members from the university community (faculty or staff)
  • Two (2) students appointed by the Associated Student Government
  • Humanities chairperson or designated representative

The committee will select a chair and a vice chair

Reporting  procedures

The committee chair shall send all minutes and reports to the Vice-President of the Academic Senate and the Vice-President for Academic Affairs. The committee shall submit the annual budget to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs during winter semester each year.
