The Department of Public Safety hires student employees each year to assist in the functions and services it provides to the campus community. In addition to our full-time staff, the department hires nearly 25-35 students who assist with parking enforcement, traffic control, after-hours dispatch, and foot patrol.
Service Officers assist with parking enforcement and traffic control. These student workers also assist during special events, including: sporting games, campus move-in weekend, and concerts.
Student dispatchers work during the evening and nighttime hours, answering non-emergency and emergency calls. Student dispatchers are also responsible for handling after-hours maintenance calls, the campus alarm systems, guest permit issuance, and ensuring student workers and patrol officers are secure.
Foot Patrol is tasked with surveilling campus and reporting suspicious activity to the department. These student workers provide escorts for students who request the department to walk them to any location on campus.
Student Parking Clerk
Student Parking Clerks assist with the business functions of the Parking Office at Public Safety. They assist our full-time staff with permit issuance and citation collection. They also help during the summertime to prepare for the upcoming year with organizing permits and campus maps for the campus community.
