Ferris offers two separate associate degrees. The first is focused on vertical construction (Building Construction Technology Management BCTM). The second is focused on horizontal construction (Civil Engineering Technology – Highway Focus). Both degrees share many of the same core construction courses including plan reading, surveying, estimating, materials, practices, administration. All students take the same construction classes their freshman year. It is in the sophomore year that the two programs offer 4 courses specific to their discipline in addition to other core construction courses.
The two AAS programs form the foundation of the first two years for the Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. The transition from the associate to bachelor's program is seamless.
