Biography

Michael has worked in the field of land surveying for his entire professional career. After graduating from Ferris State University, he started his career working for a surveying and engineering firm in Albuquerque, NM. While there, he performed topographic surveys, construction layout, and boundary surveys. He served in a variety of roles at this firm including field technician, CAD technician, crew chief, drone pilot, and assistant manager. After leaving New Mexico, he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska and continued working doing the same types of surveying and roles. After a short time in Alaska, he returned to Michigan where he worked for a statewide engineering and surveying firm performing similar surveys and roles as he had at previous firms before joining the survey program as full-time faculty in the spring of 2025.
