Reasonable Accommodations

When disability-related barriers are present, DARC is here to partner with you to determine reasonable accommodations to ensure access. An accommodation is an alteration of a policy, procedure, or the way things are typically done. These accommodations will not fundamentally alter the course or program. Accommodations may be needed in the following environments: classroom, testing, campus dining, campus housing, internships, clinical/fieldwork placements, and any other environments that are required for your degree.

How to Receive Accommodations at Ferris

In order to receive accommodations for a disability, you need to register with DARC. Here is how:

  1. Fill out the online application  and submit documentation from a qualified provider that supports your requests for accommodations.
  2. You will receive an email from DARC with instructions to schedule an appointment. At this appointment, you and your counselor will discuss disability barriers and determine access solutions.
  3. Once your counselor has met with you and reviewed any relevant documentation, your counselor will notify you if your accommodations have been approved.
  4. Renew classroom and testing accommodations each semester in DARC portal.

If you need any assistance or need to be seen sooner during this process, please contact DARC at (231) 591-3057 or [email protected].
