About the Concert Choir

The FSU Concert Choir is a mixed choir (SATB) and is the largest vocal ensemble at Ferris State University. The Choir presents at least two concerts each semester and performs pieces from many different periods and in many different styles.

Membership

The FSU Concert Choir is a mixed choir (SATB) and is the largest vocal ensemble at Ferris State University. Membership is open to all university students and members of the community. The Concert Choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:00–8:45 p.m. in Music Center Room 122. The group presents at least two concerts each semester and performs pieces from many different periods and in many different styles.

Members of these choral groups come from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of experience. So, whether you have sung in a small church choir or in a large competitive vocal ensemble, we hope you will consider becoming a member of the Concert Choir. We welcome all interested singers.

Rehearsals

Credit

Yes! Music 251: Concert Choir.
Meets General Education requirements: Cultural Enrichment. 1 Credit, repeatable.

Scholarships

Yes! Activity-Based Scholarships awarded based on attendance, contributions to ensemble and number of performances.

In most circumstances, students must be members in good standing and be participating in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Please contact Dr. Cate Arroe for specific requirements and expectations.

The scholarships are awarded as Activity-Based Scholarships by the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. A maximum of $1,500 can be awarded in a single year, and specific rules govern the award.
