Historical Note

In 1912, the first known edition of the FI Calendar was produced. There were two monthly calendars included within a page, along with at least two pictures relating to the month, or something else related to the Institute. It provides calendar dates, but no identification of any date-specific event that may have occurred at the school. Pages are printed n tan art style paper, and are single-sided, bound together by a braided string.

The last known issue of the calendar was in 1916.

Scope and Content Note

This publication was donated to the archives by alumni and other individuals at different times. It clearly served as a publication that catered to the student publication. It is a wall calendar which includes photographs and the graphical depiction of the days of the month. Typical photographs are the outside shot of the Old Main Building, the campus, Woodbridge and Helen Ferris, faculty photographs, departments, sports teams, music groups or other student organizations. This publication, in combination with the yearbook, serves as the sole source of photographs from this period of the school.

This is the only school sponsored wall calendar known to exist before the 1984 centennial calendar which featured similar historical photographs. There is no information available about who put the calendar together or the method of distribution.
