Play Triggers

Play triggers are useful when you have two pieces of content that coincide with one another (i.e., a movie trailer and it's poster or a list of show times in nearby theaters. This page will show you how to use play triggers.

For play triggers between a poster and video

  1. Add your pieces of content to the regions you want them to be displayed in the template.
  2. Right click on the video and go to 'Edit Source Content'.
  3. Make sure the duration of the video is set to '00:00:00' and click 'OK'. If the duration is anything else, it will override the length of the actual video and may cut it short and it may affect other content in your lineup.
  4. Now, go to where you placed the poster that coincides with your video and right click and go to 'Edit Source Content'.
  5. Generally, you will want your poster to play for the entire duration of a video. So make the duration of your poster the same duration of the video
    1. If you're unsure of the length of the video, navigate to where the video is saved on your computer's file system.
    2. Right click on the video file and select 'Properties' (for Windows) or 'Get Info' (for Macs)
    3. The length of the video will be under the 'Details' tab (for Windows)
  6. Right click on the poster you wish to hold the play trigger and select 'Triggers'.
  7. At the top of the dialog box, select 'New'.
  8. There are two tabs below the large white text box: 'Event' and 'Behavior'. Click the 'Behavior' tab.
  9. Your Target template will not change, but change the target region to the region in which your video is placed.
  10. Now, navigate to the middle of the dialog box and make sure the 'Play this content:' option is selected.
  11. From the drop-down menu, select the video you want to use.
  12. Click 'Ok' to save your changes.
