Making a Lasting Impression
If you were fortunate enough to have an amazing teacher at an early age, then you know it’s something you never forget. With a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ferris, you’ll build the skill set you need to shape young minds and instill a foundation of learning that your students will take with them for the rest of their lives.
As an early childhood educator, you’ll introduce your students to entirely new worlds. You’ll teach them the joy of discovery, the enchantment of learning, and the power of imagination. To prepare you for such a vital role, Ferris offers you in-depth courses on every aspect of child growth and advancement.
The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Program Details
Early Childhood Education Graduates Get Jobs
Graduates of the Early Childhood Education major find positions in Head Start programs, day care centers or family day care homes, elementary schools, hospitals, recreation centers or other child-oriented businesses. Job opportunities for students with an Early Childhood Education degree are increasing as parents rely more and more upon childcare outside the home.
Other graduates use their training in child development to supplement studies in nursing, dental hygiene, optometry, education, small business management and other business programs.
Early Learning Center
The recently expanded Early Learning Center is a Ferris-owned and operated childcare service that serves as a training and observation laboratory for students. The center also offers quality care for children of students, faculty and staff of the University and members of the community. During the final semester of the program students complete a faculty-supervised practicum in a child-care setting. Job placement sites include FSU approved childcare centers.
Accreditation
The Educator Preparation Program (EPP) at Ferris State University has earned national accreditation until Fall 2026 by demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
