At a Price - The School Doors Open

 

In 1886 Mr. Ferris advertised his fees for attending Ferris Industrial School in a newspaper he termed Useful Education.
 
Tuition (payable in advance) was: 
Common English One term, 12 weeks  $8.00
For less than one term, per week $.75
Industrial Science and Mathematics One term, 12 weeks  $10.00
For less than one term, per week $1.00
Business One term, 12 weeks $25.00
Two terms $35.00
Three terms $50.00
For less than one term, per week  $1.50
Shorthand One term, 12 weeks $15.00
For less than one term, per week $1.50
Typewriting For four weeks $3.00
For less than four weeks, per week $1.00

For a single subject in any one of the regular courses the Principal determined the rate at the time of the student's admission.
