Chris Richmond

Chris Richmond, Ph.D., PROFESSOR, LMFT
University Counselor

Chris earned his PhD from Western Michigan University and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Michigan. His special areas of interest include depression, learning disabilities, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, family relationships, couples counseling, and psychological assessment. Dr. Richmond provides a solution-focused approach to counseling, which integrates cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, family systems, and strength based techniques.

 

Mark Van Lent

Mark Van Lent, EdD, LPC, NCC
University Counselor

Mark earned his Ed.D. from Idaho State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan. Mark also holds specialized certification as a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. His special areas of interest include depression disorders, addictions, and self-esteem. Dr. VanLent provides a person-centered approach to therapy, incorporating cognitive/behavioral and solution-focused techniques.

 

Elisa Pacheco

Elisa Pacheco Cotter, LMSW
University Counselor

Elisa earned her MSW from Western Michigan and is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan.  Elisa’s area of clinical interest include identity issues, relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression and suicide prevention.  She enjoys engaging students in counseling with an eclectic treatment approach that is trauma informed, strength-based, and relational.

 

Andrew Slater

Andrew Slater, MA. LPC
University Counselor & Interim Director

Andrew earned his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. Andrew enjoys working with clients struggling with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, and identity issues. Andrew primarily uses a cognitive behavioral approach in treatment also incorporating mindfulness, and trauma informed techniques.

 

Jennifer Spicer

Jennifer Spicer

Jennifer joined the Personal Counseling Center in 2015. Prior to joining our office she worked as an Accounting Assistant in the Investments and Grants office. In her time at Ferris she has held positions in Academic Affairs, Administration and Finance, and Student Affairs. She runs the front office for the Personal Counseling Center assisting students with accessing services, she helps coordinate outreach activities, processes approved Medical Withdrawals and Leaves, and works closely with the Director of Health Services.
