Ferris State University's Accountancy program will give you the skill set you need to enter one of the most in-demand and highly-compensated careers in the country. The rapidly increasing complexity of the business environment has made the accountant one of the most prominent, integral roles in any organization. Today's accountants are leaders who are tapped into the very core of business.
Accounting is unique in its relevance to every industry, as well as to nonprofit and government organizations. Careers can be as diverse as forensic accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business consulting. Many with accounting expertise become industry leaders in positions such as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The program prepares students for the Certified Public Accounting and Certified Management Accountant exams.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 4 percent job growth rate between 2019 and 2029 in accounting and auditing jobs. The median annual salary for accountants in 2020 was $73,560 annually, or $35.37 per hour.
The Accountancy Program is as varied as the career options. Opportunities exist to participate in real-world audits or other projects, for internships at CPA firms or industry partners, and for international experiences through study abroad. Students learn that accountants are problem solvers who employ analytical thinking, a methodical approach, and objectivity.
This program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. It is also endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
The Ferris Accounting Association is a Five-Star RSO. Five-Star distinction is the highest honor that a FSU student organization can receive. We go above and beyond in providing a range of activities, community service programs, and leadership development opportunities.
