Career Opportunities

Accounting is unique in its relevance to every industry, as well as to nonprofit and government organizations. Careers can be as diverse as forensic accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business consulting. Many with accounting expertise become industry leaders in positions such as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The program prepares students for the Certified Public Accounting and Certified Management Accountant exams.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 4 percent job growth rate between 2019 and 2029 in accounting and auditing jobs. The median annual salary for accountants in 2020 was $73,560 annually, or $35.37 per hour.

The Accountancy Program is as varied as the career options. Opportunities exist to participate in real-world audits or other projects, for internships at CPA firms or industry partners, and for international experiences through study abroad. Students learn that accountants are problem solvers who employ analytical thinking, a methodical approach, and objectivity.
