Family Apartments

Thank you for considering the University Apartments as your "Home Away From Home" while you pursue your degree at Ferris State University. Ferris prides itself on the cheerful and "family" atmosphere of its apartments.

Apartment Assignments

Qualified* applicants will be contacted via their ferris.edu e-mail when apartments become available. Assignments are done on a rolling basis as applications are received and pending apartment availability. It is the applicant's responsibility to update their contact information. The inability to reach an applicant with the contact information provided will result in being passed over for the next applicant.

*Applicants must be a fully accepted, matriculated student and must not have any outstanding debt to the University to receive an assignment. Those students who are not qualified will not be contacted by the Assignment Coordinator. The right of final assignment rests with the University.

West Campus Townhouses

Robin Court is currently designated for married couples with or without children and single parents with children. They may apply for the 2 and 3 bedroom townhouse apartments in West Campus. The townhouses have bedrooms upstairs, a full basement downstairs, with the living room and kitchen on the main floor. 102 two and 35 three bedroom townhouses are available. Three bedroom townhouses have a half bath on the main level and a full bath on the upper level.

Disability accessible townhouses are also available where the entire living area is on the main level. If you or anyone in your family requires a disability accessible apartment, please contact our office, so we may appropriately accommodate your needs.

All townhouse apartments are unfurnished. They are fully carpeted, with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom which are linoleum. The kitchen appliances include a stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The washer and dryer are located in the basement which also offers plenty of storage space. School bus pickup is available at each court.

Rent includes all utilities, cable television, washer and dryer fees, data connectivity and a programming fee.

Contract

When you have accepted an apartment, a University Apartment contract will be sent to you. Married couples will need to provide the University with a Xerox copy of their original marriage license and a copy of a birth certificate for each child in the family. (Custody papers are required for divorced/separated parents). Single parents need only send a copy of a birth certificate for each child. Documents must be sent or faxed to the Housing Office at 1414 Family Drive or fax 231-591-3783 prior to check-in.

Contract Guarantee

A contract guarantee of $200 will be required from new residents when they receive an assignment for an apartment. Students transferring from the residence hall to the University Apartments may transfer their residence hall contract guarantee ($200) to the apartment.

Data Connectivity & Cable Service

Each apartment is wired for internet and cable TV. Those services come included in the price of rent. 

Renters Insurance

The University does not carry insurance or assume responsibility for the residents' personal belongings in University Apartments. You are encouraged to carry renter's insurance with your insurance company on your personal belongings. If you are not currently dealing with an insurance company, there are several local firms to assist.

Community Center

The Community Center plays a vital role in fostering community in and amongst the apartments, encouraging all residents to participate within the neighborhoods. Programming is provided at the Center to facilitate this social interaction and supplement the residents' educational endeavors.

The Community Center incorporates a large multipurpose room, two conference study rooms, computer lab, and a lobby reception desk. There is a picnic and play area located on the grounds behind the Center. A bulletin board for posting notices to other residents is available. Information concerning upcoming Community Center events can usually be found in the lobby.

I recognize that as part of my application process Ferris State University will conduct a criminal background review on me, and any person who will be living with me, excluding minors. I consent to Ferris State University conducting a criminal background review on me and disclosing the information received from such review as necessary to consider my application.

As for any minor(s) who will be living with me, I represent that such minor(s) has not be convicted of a crime, been adjudicated a juvenile delinquent, and is not on probation, except as disclosed herein. I recognize that any misrepresentation or dishonesty is an appropriate basis for termination of a contract, if a contract is entered into by me and Ferris.
