The alumni magazine in fall 1994 switched format from a newspaper to a magazine style publication. The first issue focused on the interim new president and other changes on campus. It also included the annual donor list and fundraising society memberships. Interim president William Sederberg, as well as the alumni director wrote columns. The style of publication had changed significantly as was emphasized by publication's new title of Crimson and Gold.
Early issues were short at 20-30 pages. More recent issues have included as many as 60 pages. However, the journal was in full color and contained numerous photographs and graphics. Topics include alumni activities, board activities and the result of fundraising by the alumni office. Information about alumni scholarship recipients or other students of note are also included. Articles are written by communications office staff and graphics and photographs were also provided by university photographer, who reported to that office.
This publication serves to communicate about Ferris activities to the alumni. Such activities include both the campus and its current students and the alumni scattered all over the world. Its newsmagazine format focuses on readibility and strong graphic design that will catch the eyes of the alumni. This magazine is a benefit of being a member of the Alumni Association.
Issues have been three times per year. Some have been labelled with a season such as Fall 1995, while others have a specific month such as December 1994. There has been irregular numbering of both volume (year) and issue numbers. Some issues have no numbers. Others have been numbered, with a new volume beginning with the spring issue. This is different from other publications which begin renumbering with the start of the academic years.
Topics included in the bulletin include the signed columns by presidents and the alumni director. There are class notes, a section devoted to athletics and other campus events, and new buildings or staff. Perennial topics include homecoming, the spring reunion and commencement. Often there are articles about a historic event on campus (or a event that has just happened that will someday be historic!)
This collection only contains the final issues, not drafts or correspondence about the running of the publication.
The papers are divided into a single series.
