Fitness and Wellness Coaching

Launching in January 2022, University Recreation will be introducing a brand new fitness and wellness coaching program. The goal behind this program is to introduce students to the different cardio and weight lifting machines inside the Student Recreation Center, teach students proper technique for various lifts, create a customized fitness program based on student needs, and to improve students overall health and well-being. We will also be working closely with the nutritionist in Dining Services to offer nutritional help throughout the program. 

Programs Offered

Our fitness and wellness coaches will be offering four different programs based on the individual's goals. These programs will consist of either a 4 week or 8 week workout program. The information for each program is listed below. 

Lifting 101

This program is designed for the person who has little to no experience working out in a recreational facility. This will be a 4 week program where the student will gain knowledge and experience with the different machines inside the SRC. Our coaches will demonstrate proper form on various lifts, teach you how to use different pieces of equipment, and help engage your muscles while working out. During the first week, you will work directly with a coach to ensure proper technique and to answer any questions that may come up. After the 4 week program is over, the goal is for the student to be able to work out confidently on their own, or sign up for a more experienced 4 or 8 week program. 

strength Training

This program is designed for the person who has some experience in working out, but may be looking for a set program to follow or ways to build more muscle and strength. This will be either a 4 or 8 week program that will allow you to increase your strength, see muscle development, and ultimately start to see a change in your physique. Our coaches will also show you various lifts for each muscle group to enhance your knowledge on different workouts you can choose. There will also be an added nutritional piece to this program if the student chooses that option. 

Cardio/strength

This program is designed with the combination of cardio and weight lifting workouts to help students burn off body fat while creating strength and toning the muscles. This will be a 4 week program consisting of 30 minute interval trainings four to five days per week. This program will get your hear rate fired up and help increase energy throughout your day. 

Group Workout

Don't like working out by yourself? Can't seem to find the energy or motivation to work out alone? Than this group workout program is for you! Grab a friend or 3 and come tag along for a group workout with one of our coaches. This program is designed for students to workout together. You can either follow along with a 4 week program, or you can join a class in our fitness on demand room lead by a coach. These classes will consist of cardio and weights. We have two areas in which these will take place that will allow you and your friends to get away from others, if desired, to complete your workout.
