Gretchen is an academic advisor and assistant professor for the College of Business. As an alumna of the college, she is enthusiast about the opportunities the university has to offer. Gretchen loves interacting with students and encouraging them to get out of their comfort zone to maximize their college experience. Her graduate research focused on retention of conditionally-admitted students and found students are more likely to be retained if they have someone to interact with, whether its staff, faculty, or an administrator. This further signifies the importance of her role as an academic advisor and instructor for FSU Seminar, a required course for incoming college freshman.
Gretchen has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing/Data Analytics minor from Ferris State University as well as a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. She serves on several university committees and rarely misses a football or basketball game for her beloved Bulldog teams. She is a "full-blooded Bulldog" with both parents being alumni and her mother being a professor of dental hygiene at Ferris for 30 years. She married a Ferris Bulldog, who is also a second generation Bulldog. In addition to her full-time job at Ferris, Gretchen has also been involved in local government since 2009 and has served in many positions. Since 2012, she has served as township trustee in Monroe Township (Newaygo Co).
