Lean Healthcare Minor Alumni Story: Laura Gooseberry - B.S. Healthcare Systems Administration, Lean Healthcare Minor, 2018

                                                               

Laura graduated in 2018 with a Major in Healthcare Systems Administration and a Minor in Lean Healthcare! She is also on the OSM advisory board, staying engaged with past/current/and future FSU students! She currently works as a Patient Education and Health Literacy Designer for Henry Ford Health Systems! Regarding her experience at Ferris she writes, "When I first graduated and I interviewed for jobs I was asked a lot about my lean experience. In healthcare, this is a major topic and one that is of constant discussion. We want to do what is best for our patients in the most efficient way while still keeping safety our number one priority. In my current role we focus on streamlining patient education material throughout the entire system. While this can sometimes feel daunting it is also very rewarding knowing our team is providing the most current material to our patients no matter what Henry Ford location they are at." What a rewarding position, Laura! As for advice to current/future students, she writes, "Always keep searching, learning and exploring. There is always something new to learn whether it’s a process for work or something you enjoy outside of work.  You may be working towards your degree and end up using it in a way you never thought of or in a job you had no idea even existed."
