ACCUPLACER

ACCUPLACER is a series of tests that evaluate students’ skills in reading, writing and math to help college administrators place them in courses that match their skills. Accuplacer is used only to place students in the correct class, no credit is given.

Appointments are made according to staff availability and can be made by contacting [email protected] or by phoning 231-591-3628 during business hours.

We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please be aware that we close when the university is, and we do not administer tests on weekends.

Accuplacer tests can be taken in our Testing Lab here on campus, remotely or can be taken in a Testing Lab closer to home with a provided voucher.

An academic advisor or faculty member has the option to recommend the test(s). There is a form that can be filled out by clicking here. If a Referral Form is not filled out, it is the student's responsibility to know what test(s) they need or they will be given all Accuplacer exams.

We administer the following tests:

  • Next Generation Reading– for Reading course placement.
  • English (also known as Write Placer)– for English course placement.
  • Next Generation Math– for Math course placement, there are three potential sections to the math test.

Sample questions can be found at Accuplacer.

We provide scratch paper and a pencil. There is a calculator available within the software when the student begins the Math test.

On test day, students should arrive at the Timme Center for Student Services and take the elevator to the third floor where a receptionist can direct them to the testing center.

Students MUST have a valid, current picture ID (driver's license, student ID, passport, or state ID).
