Pat on the Back Awards October 2010

Congratulations to —

Lori DeForest of Kendall College of Art and Design deserves a Pat On The Back! This past summer she has gone above and beyond with the very important work of keeping our website updated with many, many current student scholarship opportunities. She is also friendly and helpful with both staff and students.

I would like to award a couple Pat on the Back Awards to two individuals who have helped our program in more ways than one. They are both easy to work with, accommodating, patient, nothing is impossible, and they have a positive attitude. A BIG THANKS to Terri Aldrich and Rick Manuszak for all you have done for Honors!!!

I would like to give pats-on-the-backs to both Kendall's Facilities/Maintenance and Gallery staffs, for being very accommodating and easy to work with in general and specifically for all their extra efforts to prepare the building, both inside and out, for ArtPrize! Sarah Joseph, Michelle Bosak, Lee Cobb and Brent Hulbert especially have gone above and beyond.

I would like to nominate Kristy Motz for the Pat On The Back Award. She has traveled to Flint and Lansing on Saturdays to provide FSU Students will an exciting and extremely useful presentation on how to use the FLITE services from a distance. She took the time to assess the audience, plan, and deliver an energy filled presentation after traveling close to three hours. She was inspiring and gave it all for our students. Kristy is a true asset to Ferris State University.

I would like to nominate Bryan Marquardt, Mark Arnold and Natalia Carvalho-Pinto. During a recent campus visit, a prospective student became very ill at The Rock. Bryan Marquardt, Mark Arnold and Dining Service staff acted quickly in responding to this emergency. Natalia Carvalho-Pinto, Admissions Officer, went with the family to the hospital and reports from the father indicate that the student is doing much better now.

I would like to nominate Donna Eaton. I wanted to take a moment and share something with you, that is important to me. I believe that when someone is doing their job well, they should be told. I also believe that when someone is doing their job well, and performing above and beyond what is expected, they should be recognized for it. The staff in Disability Services are totally remarkable and awesome! The one staff member who stands out the most to me is Donna. Whenever I have had to voice a need or concern, I feel listened to. Not just heard, but really listened to. She is very knowledgeable and attentive to student's needs. She cares about her student's, and it shows! I'm always greeted with a sincere warm smile that makes me feel welcome. She is like my little advocate here on campus. It's comforting to know that she is here for me if I need her. She not only has worked hard on getting and scheduling interpreters for me for my classes, but also any Social Work Program activities, and I do appreciate that greatly.
