Biography

Yong Xu earned his Ph.D. from University of South Florida in 2011. He then joined Radford University in Virginia as a tenure-track assistant professor. He has taught a variety of undergraduate classes in data analysis since 2011. He is interested in innovative teaching methods and took numerous training courses about online classes, flipped classes, student-centered learning. He designed and created several programming classes including R class and SQL class.

Yong joined Ferris State University in fall 2017 as an associate professor in Data Mining. His research interest focuses on Business data, Environment data, and health data analysis. He has done some researches related to big data, time series, and statistical models.

His service interest focuses on students’ recruitment and retention, specialized on recruiting international students. He is the current major advisor for FSU’s Data Analytics Association (DAA).
