Joe Hatch, PGA, is the Director of the PGA Golf Management Program at Ferris State University, the nation’s first and longest-running PGA-accredited program. A proud alumnus of Ferris State, Joe has dedicated his career to advancing the game of golf through education, leadership, and player development.
Prior to returning to Ferris, Joe served as Head Men’s Golf Coach at Davenport University, where he led the program through its transition from NCAA Division III to Division II competition. His background also includes extensive leadership experience in private club operations, serving as Director of Golf Operations at both StoneWater Country Club (MI) and Stevens Point Country Club (WI), where he oversaw major growth in membership, revenue, and programming.
Since taking on the director role at Ferris, Joe has guided more than 125 students through academic advising, internships, and career preparation, while also leading the program through a successful reaccreditation in 2023. Under his leadership, the program saw its first enrollment increase in nearly a decade and secured significant fundraising support through alumni and university initiatives.
Recognized for his commitment to professional development and mentorship, Joe was honored as the 2024 Michigan PGA Professional Development Award Winner. His passion for teaching, strategic leadership, and student success continues to shape the next generation of PGA Professionals.
