Biography

My professional experience has been split between teaching, working in industrial and government labs, and being a part of industrial support services. I have taught chemistry at all levels: high school, junior college, and 30+ years at Ferris State. In industry, I worked at Inland Steel in a quality control lab and as a mill support chemist. I also worked as a visiting scientist at Dow Chemical where I got exposed to the wide-ranging utility of viscometry. In addition, I worked four stints as a visiting faculty member for the Department of Energy. There I worked on projects ranging from explosive detection to long path infrared studies.
