Biography
Micah Laird is a dedicated musician and educator committed to inspiring people of all ages through music. His experience in the marching arts spans more than a decade, including work with Catalina Foothills High School—participants in the Rose Bowl Parade and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade—as well as Blue Springs High School, a multi–Bands of America Grand National Championships finalist. Since 2022, Micah has also served on the visual teaching staff of the 21-time Drum Corps International World Champion Blue Devils.
Micah’s passion for education began after performing at the Essentially Ellington Festival and Competition, hosted by Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center, as a high schooler. That transformative experience inspired him to ensure that all students have the opportunity to build deep community through excellent music making.
In the choral world, Micah performed with the Sedona Academy of Chamber Singers, appearing alongside Josh Groban in his 2018 Phoenix concert and recording the album Requiem by composer Michael Hoppé. Additionally, while teaching in Blue Springs, Missouri, he also contributed to the administrative staff of the Ad Astra Music Festival, based in Russell, Kansas.
He firmly believes that great education and musical excellence are inseparable, and that every student deserves access to outstanding music instruction. Micah holds music degrees from Northern Arizona University and the University of Oregon, where he studied conducting with Dr. Dennis Llinás.
