Biography

Teaching about connections in nature and natural resources conservation is my passion. I enjoy learning about current environmental topics and thinking about best practices of how to convey this information in the classroom effectively.

I have nearly 20 years of experience teaching biology in higher education. I work extensively with a nonprofit environmental and outdoor education organization (www.maeoe.com), our state’s natural resources agency in its education and outreach (www.michigan.gov/anr), and the local watershed council (www.mrwa.org).

My research interests include experiential, place-based approaches to teaching and learning watershed social-ecological concepts for increasing awareness about natural resources, and sustainability and stewardship practices.

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, experiencing the outdoors, or just simply trying to live fully in the moment.
