About the Students With Children Program
Ferris established the Students With Children Network in Fall 2009. The network formed to address the needs of student parents by offering activities, resources, and services to first-time, returning, and transfer students with children (infant through high school).
A needs assessment occurred in Fall 2009 to collect data about parenting needs and obstacles to successful completion of a college degree. These initial findings highlighted the need for financial aid, child care, health services, library resources, academic support services, recreational activities for families, dining options for families, and additional housing options. These themes continue to inform resourcing and programming in support of student parents and their children.
