What support system or mentors did you have in college?
I really valued my relationships with my academic advisors, my faculty advisors, and
my professors in my major specific courses. All these individuals really helped me
understand the processes of higher education and engage more in my academic community.
I also built lasting friendships while at Ferris. Those friends helped me get through
difficult classes and help me navigate through life now!
What is something that you know now, that you wish you knew when you were in college?
Take advantage of all the events on campus. I went to a few of the concerts and college
wide end of semester parties. But there are always so many talks, gatherings, and
activities going on around campus, all of those things build connections and community.
What advice do you have for a first-generation college student pursuing a degree at
Ferris?
You're not alone. You have so many people who want you to succeed and so many support
services to help you succeed. If you ever find yourself feeling lost, alone, or in
need of some help reach out! There is someone who can help you!
