Reasons to Fill Out Your FAFSA

Starting October 1, you are able to fill out your FAFSA for the 2022/2023 school year. As a Ferris student, you're not required to have a FAFSA on file, but filling it out is a pretty good idea. Here's why:

Get Help Paying for School

Over 98% of Ferris Statewide and Online students qualify for some type of federal aid, whether it's loans, grants or scholarships. But you'll never know what you're eligible for if you don't fill out the FAFSA! Don't count yourself out.

Increase Your Scholarship Eligibility

There are plenty of scholarship opportunities for Ferris Statewide and Online students to take advantage of, and you could qualify for even more if your FAFSA is on file. Some scholarships are awarded based on financial need, others are based on merit, and some are based on both. Don't take yourself out of the running just because you didn't fill out your FAFSA. Explore the scholarship opportunities that Ferris has to offer by visiting our scholarship page.

Find Out If You're Pell Eligible

Over 600 Statewide and Online students received the Pell Grant for Fall 2021! The only way to find out if you're eligible to receive the Pell Grant or any other federal grant is–you guessed it–to fill out your FAFSA!

Accept or Decline Aid at Any Time

Filling out your FAFSA does not mean that you are required to accept your loans or any other form of federal aid. It just gives you some options in case you need them. If you accept or decline your aid and end up changing your mind, all you need to do is email [email protected] during the semester to change your decision.

Whew! How many more times can we say "fill out your FAFSA" in one blog post? (We really think you should fill out your FAFSA!)

If you have any questions or you need help, head to our Financial Aid page, email [email protected], or schedule an appointment with a Financial Aid Officer. The FAFSA for the 2022/2023 school year will be available on October 1.
