Welcome New Bulldogs

Congratulations on your acceptance to Ferris!

Gradient Line

We're so glad you're here! We can't wait to help you get started on your journey at Ferris. There are just a few steps left to make sure you're ready for your first class.

1. Setup Your MyFSU Account and Student Email

Your first job as a new Bulldog is to setup your MyFSU account and Ferris email. MyFSU is our hub for all things Ferris. You'll do everything from register for classes to pay your tuition on MyFSU.

You will need your student ID to get started. Make sure to click the "Get Your ID Now" link in your acceptance email. This link is just for you. It will take you to your student ID number.

Once you have your ID, head to the account setup page, enter your student ID and birthdate, and click submit. The next page will show you your username, temporary password, and your new Ferris.edu email address.

Now you have everything you need to login to MyFSU and your Ferris email. This would be a good time to reset your password and setup a verification method. Follow the instructions from our IT team to make sure your account is secure.

Your Ferris email is the only place we will send important information to you electronically. Make sure to check it often!

2. Complete New Student Orientation

Orientation will give you all of the information you need to be successful at Ferris. From buying your books to getting your student ID card, orientation has you covered. All off-campus and online students can complete orientation entirely online.

You must complete orientation before you register for classes. Please allow one business day after completing your orientation for us to clear you to register. Head to the orientation portal to get started now!

3. Meet Your Advisor

If you haven't already, make sure to schedule an appointment with your advisor. We can't stress enough how important it is to meet with your advisor before registering for each semester. Even a quick chat on the phone or virtual meeting can help keep you on track and ensure that you're taking the right classes at the right time.

4. Check Your Financial Aid

If you're planning on receiving any type of financial aid, you will want to make sure it is in order as soon as possible. If you haven't completed your FAFSA yet, now is the time! Many financial aid opportunities, such as scholarships and grants, are awarded to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Head to our Financial Aid page to learn more.

If you are paying your tuition out of pocket, you will need to make sure you're on a payment plan or have paid in full before our deadlines or you risk being dropped from your classes!

Will you be taking classes at your local community college as a part of your Ferris program? If so, you will need to submit a consortium form. You can learn all about the consortium process here. Don't forget to apply to your community college as well!

5. Register for Classes

This is the big one! Now that you have setup your MyFSU account, completed orientation, met with your advisor and confirmed your financial aid, it's time to fill your schedule with classes. Head to MyRegistration on MyFSU to register.

Crafting the perfect class schedule is an art you'll master quickly. Check out this helpful guide to get started.
